Only your starter can be used during this battle. If you have received any other Pokémon at this point, for example via promos, you cannot use them until your rival battle is over.[/ooc]
You didn't think you'd just be waltzing right out of Leddin Town, did you? C'mon, you know better than that. In the spirit of the long-standing tradition of training rivalries your very own rival has challenged you to a battle, and if you want to leave anytime soon you're going to have to take them on. Also in true rival fashion, they've taken the liberty of choosing the starter that has a type-advantage against yours. (Of course they did. Couldn't Gadari have cut you some slack and given them the weaker one for once? Man.)
